Product Details
The Patagonia Men’s R1 TechFace Hoody is a technical fleece jacket designed to function as a versatile crosslayer for mountain environments. Combining the breathable warmth of the R1 fleece series with a durable, weather-resistant outer face, the hoody is intended for activities such as rock climbing, alpine climbing, ski touring, and cold-weather hiking where mobility and moderate weather protection are important. The jacket uses a double-weave fabric made primarily from recycled polyester with elastane stretch. This construction pairs a grid-fleece interior that traps warmth and manages moisture with a smooth outer surface that increases abrasion resistance and helps block wind. Compared with traditional fleece, the TechFace fabric offers improved durability and better resistance to wind and light precipitation. A PFC-free durable water-repellent (DWR) finish further helps shed light moisture and snow. Designed for technical movement, the hoody features a helmet-compatible hood that provides additional protection in exposed conditions while maintaining a low-profile fit. Stretch construction and articulated patterning allow unrestricted mobility during climbing or scrambling. Offset shoulder seams reduce pressure under backpack straps, improving comfort during long approaches or when carrying a pack. The jacket includes a full-length zipper for ventilation and easy layering, along with two harness-compatible zippered hand pockets that remain accessible when wearing a climbing harness or backpack waist belt. With its balance of breathability, durability, and moderate weather protection, the R1 TechFace Hoody works as either a standalone outer layer in cool, dry conditions or as part of a layering system in colder environments.
