It combines wind resistance and light moisture shedding with an adaptable design that shifts from a full-sleeve jacket to a vest, making it suitable for cool, breezy conditions as well as warmer riding when ventilation and mobility become priorities. Constructed from a lightweight ripstop Barrier fabric with a 5 CFM rating, the Quest Barrier blocks wind chill effectively, helping maintain comfort on exposed climbs or fast descents without adding unnecessary weight. The fabric is made with 100 % recycled polyester and treated with a PI Dry® C0 PFAS-free durable water-repellent finish that sheds light precipitation in changing conditions, though it’s not a substitute for a dedicated waterproof jacket in heavy rain. Performance ventilation is integrated into this layer via a rear upper mesh panel that encourages airflow as activity heats up, and a two-way front zipper gives riders control over ventilation and access to base layer pockets beneath. When the pace increases or temperatures climb, the snap-off sleeves tuck neatly into the rear zip pocket, converting the jacket to a vest and reducing bulk while preserving core wind protection. Additional details such as front zip hand pockets for small item storage, dual hem cord locks to customize fit and seal out drafts, and BioViz® reflective elements for enhanced low-light visibility make the Quest Barrier Convertible a practical layer for road and gravel riding.
